One of three brothers to play for the Town, Ernest was born in Luton in 1880 and initially turned out for Luton Stanley on the left wing..
Asked to help the Town out as the club was drifting out of the Football League in 1900 he made 11 appearances in Division Two and followed these up with the occasional Southern League appearance over the next two seasons. In between times he played for Luton Stanley
