Paul Peschisolido

Paul Paolo Peschisolido Date of Birth: May 25, 1971

Manager Kevin Blackwell’s shopping spree of summer 2007 included the signing of five players aged between 32 and 38. This brought bags of top-level experience to Luton’s squad, but inevitably meant the risk of injury absences would be high. In the case of striker Paul Peschisolido the gamble failed spectacularly, for an ankle problem meant Paul was on the payroll for a year and never managed a full 90 minutes, starting just two games and warming the bench in three others.

Born in Toronto, ‘Pesh’ won 53 full caps in 12 years for Canada, and his career tally of 202 senior goals included 10 at international level. He arrived in the UK in 1992, joining Birmingham City where he met and later married managing director Karren Brady. A mobile little striker with good finishing skills, he netted regularly at all his clubs apart from Luton. These included Stoke, WBA, Fulham, Sheffield United, QPR, Norwich and Derby.

His only strike for the Hatters came in a 2-0 Johnstone Paints Trophy win over Northampton before the ankle injury worsened, leading to surgery which sidelined him for months. He departed at the end of 2007-8, coached for a year in Ireland and then became Burton Albion manager for three seasons before being dismissed in 2012.
