Richard Jackson
Richard Jackson Date of Birth: Apr 18, 1980 Share "Richard Jackson" on FacebookA steady and reliable full-back, Richard arrived at Kenilworth Road having made 127 appearances for Derby County, including a dozen at Premiership level. He was a 27-year-old free-transfer recruit prior to the start of 2007-8 season and went on to wear a Luton shirt 37 times in league and cup fixtures.
Despite a winning start, Richard was part of a Hatters team caught up in a financial crisis with relegation looming League Two. Occasionally he had to deal with bouts of barracking from unhappy home fans, but certainly wasn’t the only one to suffer this.
Born in Whitby, Richard’s career began a few miles down the coast at Scarborough in 1997. Derby swooped to sign him for a bargain £30,000 two seasons later and by the time of his move to Luton he had become the longest serving player in the Rams squad. After being released by cash-strapped Luton in the summer of 2008 he appeared for Hereford, Whitby Town and Burton Albion before hanging his boots up aged 30 having suffered long-term injury problems.
