Ryan Charles

Ryan Charles Date of Birth: Sep 30, 1989

Hemel Hempstead-born forward Ryan first linked up with Luton as a schoolboy, turned down the chance to join Watford, and in March 2008 was rewarded by becoming a member of an exclusive club – players who score at Football League level on their home debuts!

Ryan’s big moment came as an 18-year-old, opening the scoring after 20 minutes in a 3-0 League One victory over Oldham. He took a Richard Jackson pass, beat his marker and smashed home a magnificent effort from a tight angle. His debut had come a week earlier as a sub at Southend.

Ryan went on to make a total of 28 first team appearances for Luton, six of them in the club’s non-League era, and bagged four goals. He was loaned out to four different clubs while on the Hatters books, but in 2010 was released to join Rushden & Diamonds on a permanent basis, before having stints at Cambridge United and Newport County.
