Derek Kevan

Derek Tennyson Kevan Date of Birth: Mar 6, 1935

Derek was nearing the end of an illustrious career by the time he signed for Luton in December 1966 but his transfer was seen as a major coup for a side that was struggling at the wrong end of Division Four.

Born in Ripon, Derek had started out at Bradford PA but it was while at West Brom that he earned 14 caps for England and rattled in 157 goals in 262 League appearances. He continued to score for Chelsea, Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Peterborough before becoming one of Luton manager Allan Brown’s first signings.

Although only playing 11 League games for the Hatters before moving to Stockport in exchange for Keith Allen, Derek certainly re-awakened enthusiasm at Kenilworth Road.

Derek retired to Spain but passed away in Birmingham in 2013..
