George Goodyear
George Goodyear Date of Birth: Jul 5, 1916 Share "George Goodyear" on FacebookLuton boy George was picked up by the Hatters in October 1938 after starring as a fast and clever wing-half for Hitchin Town but had to wait until the end of the war before making his League debut.
George made ten appearances during the 1946/47 season but was always competing against the likes of ex-England international Frank Soo and was transferred to Southend in July 1947.
At Grainger Road, George had an altogether more successful time making 59 League appearances in two seasons before moving on to Crystal Palace where he failed to make the first team due to an immediate change of manager.
After a spell at Biggleswade, George hung up his boots and settled in Sandy before sadly passing away in 2001.
