Born in Wombwell in 1891, Billy played 32 League games for the Town in 1922/23 as the direct replacement for Louis Bookman and was the main provider of goals for the prolific Sid Reid.
Never one to stay at a club too long, Billy departed for Pontypridd at the season’s end before a spell at Southport and then Scunthorpe and Lindsey United where he was forced to retire following a broken leg.
Billy became a commission agent in later life and passed away in Burnley in 1954.
