James (Jimmy) William ARMSTRONG

Born in Swalwell-on-Tyne in 1901, Jimmy was spotted by Chelsea scouts whilst playing local junior football and moved to Stamford Bridge in 1922 where he made only 29 League appearances in four years.
He moved across London in 1927 to Tottenham where he was no more successful so dropped down a division to come to Luton in July 1930 on a free transfer.
A centre forward or inside forward he was said to lack physical power and made only ten League appearances before moving to Bristol Rovers in March 1931.
Jimmy passed away in Gateshead in 1977.
