John Wilson

Born in Middlesbrough in 1867, John started his career with the local Ironopolis side before moving south to join Woolwich Arsenal in 1889.

Living in Plumstead close to Town player John Julian he was encouraged to come to Luton in December 1892 and became a regular in the side at full-back or occasionally at half-back where he was renowned for his tough tackling.

John played throughout the 1893-94 season but a new contract was not offered so he went to work on the railways at Wolverton and play for the local works side. He later turned out for West Herts and Crouch End and in later life was a turnstile operator at Vicarage Road.

John passed away in Watford in 1929.
