Gordon Brice
Gordon Harry Joseph Brice Born: 4th May 1924 From: Share "Gordon Brice" on FacebookBedford born Gordon signed on for the Hatters during the war but was called up to the Marines almost immediately.
In the first post-war season Gordon made only 13 appearances for the Town, mostly as understudy to centre-half Horace Gager, and it came as a surprise when mighty Wolves paid out £11,000 seeing him as the successor to Stan Cullis.
It did not work out at Molineux and in March 1948 he signed for Reading where he became a terrace favourite. Moving up a grade to Fulham in 1952, Gordon had four years at Craven Cottage before being transferred to Ayr where he also ran an hotel.
Gordon was also a county cricketer for Northants and was living in Bedford at the time of his death in 2003.
