Russell Perrett

Russell Perrett Date of Birth: Jun 18, 1973

Russ started his football career with Portsmouth and was a member of Pompey’s acclaimed youth side of the late 1980’s but he was allowed to leave to join Lymington before being given a second chance at Fratton Park which he grasped with both hands.

A tough, brave and clever central defender, Russ made his League debut in 1995-96 but moved to Cardiff four years later after becoming surplus to requirements. At Ninian Park injuries cut back his appearances and he was grateful for a fresh start with Joe Kinnear’s Luton in 2001.

Although injury also curtailed his Luton career he never gave less than 100% and was the longest serving player on the club’s books by the time he signed for Bournemouth in 2007.

A bout of pleurisy forced Russ to retire from the game a year later since when he became a publican.
