Horace Hewson

Horace was elected to the Luton Town Board of Directors in March 1932 and served the usual three year term, not seeking re-election in March 1935.
Horace died on the 17th December 1962. His obituary is from the Luton News of the 20th December 1962.
“Born in Luton and educated at Dunstable-road School with Mr V.M. Sunman, he founded the firm of Sunman and Hewson in 1920. The firm later became a limited liability company. Mr Hewson retired from the from in 1935.
Mr Hewson was the Conservative representative for the Stopsley ward from 1936 to 1939 and was a former director of Luton Town Football Club.
He was also a former captain of Dunstable Golf Club and a keen billiards player.
His interests also included membership of the Luton Liberal Club, the Warden Lodge of the Freemasons, and the choir of Park-street Baptist Church. During the Second World war he was a special constable. He visited many countries on business including America, France and Sweden. He is survived by his wife and sons.”
His will shows he left £15,932 to his wife and sons.
