Alan Daniel

Alan Winstone Daniel Date of Birth: Apr 5, 1940

Ashford born Alan moved to Luton at an early age when father Mel signed on for the Hatters. When Mel left Kenilworth Road the family settled back in Ashford leaving son Alan to be picked up by Bexleyheath and Welling where he played in an F.A.Youth Cup match against Manchester United losing 1-11!

Alan was, however, a good defender and was snapped up by the Hatters from under the noses of several clubs and after working his way up through the youth and reserve sides made his first team debut at West Brom in 1959 as a 19 year old.

A long and successful livelihood seemed assured but sadly, Alan’s football career ended four years later with a miss-diagnosed snapped Achilles tendon.

Alan, who remained local, sadly passed away in May 2021.
