Alan Rivers Date of Birth: Jan 27, 1946 Share "Alan Rivers" on FacebookBig, no-nonsense centre-half Alan joined Luton from school before signing professional forms for the Hatters on his 18th birthday in January 1964.
Alan made his League debut, deputising for the injured Matt Woods, in a 2-1 home victory over Newport in September 1965, before going on to make 30 appearances for the Town over the next two seasons.
With new manager Allan Brown wishing to bring in his own players, Alan moved on to Watford in 1967 but managed only two games as substitute for the Hornets before a spell at Rangers in South Africa where he managed the local football team and ran a successful business.
On returning to these shores, Alan coached with Jimmy Quinn at Northwich and Shrewsbury and helped the latter return to the Football League. Alan now lives in Sandbach in retirement.
