Alan West

Alan West Date of Birth: Dec 18, 1951

After being spotted by Burnley scouts while playing for his school team in Hyde, Alan joined one of the best youth set-ups in the country and became part of the Clarets side that lifted the FA Youth cup in 1968.

A midfielder of skill and vision, Alan made over 50 appearances for Burnley and picked up an England Under-23 cap before a big bid from Sunderland was accepted in 1973. Amazingly, Alan failed a medical because of a back problem but Luton manager Harry Haslam immediately stepped in, leading to an eight year stay at Kenilworth Road and 285 League appearances!

Since leaving the professional game, Alan was a church minister in Luton for many years and was also club chaplain at Kenilworth Road.
