Albert Worth

Albert Gillison Worth Date of Birth: Feb 1, 1888

Born in Manchester in 1888, Albert started his football career with two seasons at Stockport before moving down a rung to star for Rochdale as a goalscoring winger in 1909-10.

Albert’s performances led to another shot further up the ladder, this time with Grimsby who he helped back into the Football League but seeing his starts dwindle at Blundell Park was happy with the chance to move to Luton in the summer of 1912.

The Town had just been relegated to Southern League Division Two and fully expected to bounce back immediately. Despite missing only one game in 1912-13 and showing honest endeavour the Town finished a dismal fifth so his contract was not renewed and he returned to the north-west with Heywood United.
