Alfred Howe

Alfred Howe Date of Birth: May 10, 1871

Born in Wellingborough in 1871, Alfred came to the attention of the Town’s selection committee when he played against Luton in various Charity Cup competitions for both his home town club and Finedon.

Reluctant to leave his home, the Town’s directors were happy to allow him to commute and he signed on amateur forms in October 1894, just in time for the start of the club’s first season in the Southern League.

A strong wing-back, he was a regular in the side for the remainder of that season but tired of travelling returned to Wellingborough at the campaign’s end.
