A 6 foot central defender Anthony started out with Crewe Alexandra but failed to make the first team. He signed for Hayes for a season but Aldershot Town became his real home where he spent three periods. He spent a season there in 2002/03 before moving on to Farnborough Town and then Barnet. he went back to Aldershot on loan in 2007 and then signed permanently. He was almost an ever present in their 2007/08 promotion winning side back to the Football League. He was made Supporters Club Player of the season and the Players’ Player of the Season.
A knee injury in the last game of the 2010/11 season kept him out for 6 months and his contract was not renewed. Spells at Plymouth Argyle and Northampton Town was followed by a one year contract with the Hatters in the Summer of 2013. Anthony was used as cover for regular centre backs Steve McNulty, Alex Lacey and Fraser Franks.
Anthony made his debut as a substitute in the first game of the season at Southport. He started three days later alongside Steve McNulty in a 2 0 win over Salisbury City at Kenilworth Road. He stayed all season with his final game as substitute in the last game of the season at Hyde United.
On leaving the Town in 2014 Anthony had brief spells with Nuneaton Town, Worcester City, Halesowen Town, Stratford Town, Walton and Hersham and Rugby Town before retirement.
