Arthur Nelson

Arthur Nelson Date of Birth: May 15, 1909

Born in Darnall, Sheffield in 1909, Arthur was first spotted by Hull as a teenager in 1927 and was given a number of first team opportunities at Anlaby Road but did not quite make the grade so was released after two seasons to join Scarborough.

His goalscoring prowess caught the eye of Notts County in 1930 but they did not play him leading to a further move to Stockport where he was in and out of the side.

The pattern continued after he joined the Town in September 1932. Signed as cover, he was given game time where he proved to be equally good with both feet, strong and difficult to knock off the ball but a little slow.

Arthur left Luton at the end of the season and went back to non-League with Nuneaton, Wellington and Burton. Arthur passed away in Bradford in 1977.
