Arthur Taylor
Arthur Taylor Date of Birth: Apr 5, 1931 Share "Arthur Taylor" on FacebookRarely can a player have made such an impact on his first-team debut as Arthur, who netted in the first minute of an F.A.Cup Third Round tie for the Hatters against Blackburn in January 1953 and scored again a few minutes later in an eventual 5-1 romp.
Poached from Glentoran as a teenager by the Town, Arthur was made to bide his time in the reserve side, playing mainly on the wing, before his amazing debut. Arthur was used again in the Hatter’s Division Two side the week after the cup-tie but then had to wait until the start of the following campaign for his next chance.
After only five League games in three seasons Arthur was surprisingly handed the number 11 shirt as the Town entered Division One in 1955 but after only three starts he was not given a further chance and returned to his home city of Belfast where he still lives.
