Barry Reed
Barry Reed Date of Birth: Nov 24, 1937 Share "Barry Reed" on FacebookPeterborough born Barry started his footballing career at St Neots before being spotted by Leicester who he joined in 1955.
A cool full-back with good distribution, Barry became a mainstay in the Foxes Football Combination side but was never able to earn a first team chance. After six years at Filbert Street he accepted a free-transfer to Luton but such was the form of Brendan McNally that he made only one Football League appearance for the Hatters in a 1-4 home defeat at the hands of Southampton in September 1961 where he acquitted himself ‘moderately well.’
Barry is perhaps better known for managing Barton Rovers to the FA Vase final in 1978.
Barry passed away in Luton in 2020.
