Barry Silkman
Barry Silkman Born: 29th June 1952 From: Share "Barry Silkman" on FacebookMuch travelled midfielder Barry turned out for ten League clubs in a long career starting at Hereford in 1974 who he joined from then non-League Barnet.
A talented and flamboyant individual, Barry played most of his football in the London area although it was from Plymouth that he came to Luton on loan in February 1979 when Hatters manager David Pleat was looking for recruits to help his injury stricken side. Barry was unstoppable in his first game, a 2-1 home win over Blackburn, but less so in his next two and he left Kenilworth Road for Manchester City soon afterwards.
Barry, by now a greyhound trainer and players agent, became the oldest player to turn out in the FA Cup since the days of Stanley Matthews when he made a cameo appearance for Harrow Borough in 2000, aged 48.
