Bill Draycott
Bill William Draycott Date of Birth: Feb 15, 1869 Share "Bill Draycott" on FacebookBorn in Newhall, Derbyshire in 1869, Billy was at the end of a long career when he came to Luton in 1903 where his one game for the Town turned out to be his last.
A robustly built wing-half, Billy had enjoyed long spells in the Football League with Burton Wanderers and Newton Heath amongst others and it is unclear why he was given a chance at Luton given that he was well past his best and, according to reports, overweight. He replaced the absent Bob Hawkes in a 2-1 defeat at Wellingborough in February 1903 and hung his boots up shortly afterwards.
Billy remained in Luton and passed away in the town in 1943.
