Bill Godfrey
William Paterson Binnie Godfrey Born: 29th April 1910 From: Share "Bill Godfrey" on FacebookBorn in Stenhousemuir in 1910, Bill was signed by Plymouth from Aberdeen in 1933 but had made only 15 appearances by the time of a sensational transfer to Luton in February 1936.
Four players were signed from Argyle at the same time and although Bill played five times towards the end of 1935-36, including the ‘Joe Payne’ game, he was always regarded as understudy to Bill Fellowes (coincidentally once of Argyle) at wing-half and after one further appearance played his remaining two seasons at Kenilworth Road in the reserves.
After retiring from the game, Bill worked at Vauxhall Motors as a fitter and played for the works team. Bill passed away in Luton in 1978.
