Bill Godfrey
Bill Godfrey Date of Birth: Apr 29, 1910 Share "Bill Godfrey" on FacebookBorn in Stenhousemuir in 1910, Bill was signed by Plymouth from Aberdeen in 1933 but had made only 15 appearances by the time of a sensational transfer to Luton in February 1936.
Four players were signed from Argyle at the same time and although Bill played five times towards the end of 1935-36, including the ‘Joe Payne’ game, he was always regarded as understudy to Bill Fellowes (coincidentally once of Argyle) at wing-half and after one further appearance played his remaining two seasons at Kenilworth Road in the reserves.
After retiring from the game, Bill worked at Vauxhall Motors as a fitter and played for the works team. Bill passed away in Luton in 1978.
