Bill Perkins

Bill Perkins Date of Birth: Jan 26, 1876

Born in Wellingborough in 1876, Bill was an agile goalkeeper with excellent reflexes who came to Football League side Luton Town in 1898 from Kettering where he had put on a number of glittering displays.

Transferring that form to Luton he soon became a crowd favourite but the Town could not turn down a massive offer of £200 from Liverpool in March 1899.

At Anfield, Bill became a regular in the side who he helped to the Division One championship in 1901. Replaced in 1903 he moved to Northampton where he finished his career.

Remaining in Northampton, Bill became a bootmaker and passed away in 1949.
