William Prentice
William Prentice Share "William Prentice" on FacebookBorn in Govan, Glasgow in 1873, Bill played for Third Lanark before moving south to play for Gainsborough Trinity.
Turning up at Luton in the summer of 1894 for a trial he was offered terms and became a regular in the Town’s first season in the Southern League. A small but skilful inside forward or winger with the ability to score a goal, Bill was also high maintenance both on and off the field.
After various warnings as to his conduct the club gave up and he departed in April 1895.
By 1901, Bill was back in Govan working as an ‘Iron Ship Caulker’, his previous trade.
