Billy Lindsay

William Lindsay Date of Birth: Dec 10, 1872

Born in Stockton in 1872, Billy gained considerable experience in the Football League with Everton, Grimsby and Newcastle so it was seen as a big coup when he signed for Luton in September 1900 just as the Town were re-adjusting to life back in the Southern League.

A strong powerful full-back he was made skipper and was a regular in the side for three years but a poor attitude to training, including being spotted at Kempton Park when he should have been in Luton, meant that the club was not sorry when he joined Watford in 1903.

The same problem persisted at Watford and he finished his playing career at Hitchin before passing away in Luton in 1933.
