Bobby Thomson
Bobby Robert Thomson Date of Birth: Nov 21, 1939 Share "Bobby Thomson" on FacebookMenstrie born Bobby started his playing career with Partick Thistle before winning a dream move to Bill Shankly’s Liverpool in December 1962.
A teak tough full-back, Bobby made only six Division One appearances for the Anfield club so was glad to accept a move to Luton in August 1965 to gain regular first-team football.
The Hatters had been relegated to Division Four that summer but made a brave albeit ultimately unsuccessful bid for immediate promotion aided by the uncompromising right-back play of Bobby.
Season 1966/67 proved to be the Town’s worst in their history and although Bobby performed well he became part of the major cull at the club in the summer of 1967 and emigrated to Australia where he still lives in retirement.
