Brian Horton

Brian Horton Date of Birth: Feb 4, 1949

Hednesford born Brian was a late starter in League football and was 21 before making his debut for Port Vale. Making up for lost time, Brian went on to make over 200 appearances for Vale before moving to Brighton in 1976 where he also broke the double century barrier at the same time helping the Seagulls into Division One for the first time.

Brian was 32 when he moved to Luton in exchange for Tony Grealish in 1981 but he proved to be David Pleat’s final piece in the jigsaw and oversaw the Hatter’s rise to the top flight as an inspirational skipper and combative midfielder.

After retiring from the playing side, Brian has become a high profile manager at Manchester City amongst others and subsequently Phil Brown’s assistant at various clubs.
