Brian Stein

Brian Stein Date of Birth: Oct 19, 1957

One of Luton Town’s favourite sons, Brian is second only to Gordon Turner in the post-war scoring charts and formed magical partnerships with the likes of Bob Hatton and Mick Harford during his long stay at Kenilworth Road.

Born in South Africa in 1957, Brian was brought to England as a seven year old as his family fled the apartheid regime and was playing for Edgware when he was recommended to the Hatters in 1977.

Possibly the best finisher the club has ever seen, Brian helped the Town to the top flight in 1982, picked up an England cap and scored twice in the magical Littlewoods Cup final win over Arsenal in 1988.

Surprisingly allowed to move to France that summer, Brian did return to Luton in 1991 before finishing his first class playing career at Barnet.

Brian subsequently enjoyed a successful spell as Mike Newell’s assistant at Kenilworth Road.
