Charles Fraser
Charles Fraser Date of Birth: Mar 3, 1907 Share "Charles Fraser" on FacebookBorn in Plaistow in 1907, Charlie was an all-round sportsman who won amateur boxing titles as a youth, played cricket to a good standard and appeared for England schoolboys at football.
Surprisingly overlooked by West Ham he joined Luton in 1925 and after a period in the reserves made his League debut in January 1927, the first of 272 first team games for the Town, and but for a broken arm which kept him out for almost a year, would have been far more.
A left half of rare skill with the ability to read and control a game, Charlie was a firm crowd favourite which made a devastating leg break (like ‘a gunshot’ which could be heard all around the ground) received during a 6-1 home win over Aldershot in March 1935 all the more tragic.
He sadly never played again and passed away in 1944.
