Chris Turner

Chris Turner Date of Birth: Apr 3, 1951

Uncompromising centre-half Chris had made over 300 League appearances for Peterborough when Luton manager David Pleat, building his first Hatters side, talked him into moving to Kenilworth Road.

Doubtless a quality defender, Chris soon made it known that he hankered after a return to the New England Teamen in the USA, where he had been playing the previous summer, and a reluctant Pleat let him go after only 30 League games for the Town.

After getting the USA out of his system, Chris turned out for Cambridge and Southend before moving back to Cambridge United as manager where he built up the squad that would be so successful under John Beck.

Chris later managed and then owned Peterborough before taking up a temporary coaching role at Cambridge. Chris sadly passed away in 2015.
