Colin Tinsley

Colin Tinsley Date of Birth: Oct 24, 1935

Born at Redcar, Colin was an apprentice bricklayer before being spotted by Grimsby in 1954. Although initially deemed too lightweight for Football League goalkeeping duties, two years of National Service bulked him up and after rejecting a new contract at Blundell Park he became a regular at Darlington before accepting a move to Exeter in 1961.

Colin came to Kenilworth Road in 1963 as understudy to Ron Baynham, but when the England international retired he became a mainstay in a poor Hatters side with a succession of brave performances.

After leaving in 1966, Colin played at Kettering for a season but came back to Luton on a short term contract in 1967 for a swansong performance at Southend in an emergency.

Colin still lives in Dunstable after retiring from Tarmac.
