On Southampton’s books before the War, Cyril, a civil engineer by trade, turned out on the wing for the Town during the last war-time season of 1945-46.
The FA Cup rounds were played over two legs that season with the Town being beaten 6-0 at home by eventual winners Derby in the third round first leg. Cyril was picked for the second leg which was lost 3-0.
After a handful of reserve games in 1946-47, Cyril left the club with no record as to whether he stayed in the game.
