Dan Kirkwood
Dan Kirkwood Date of Birth: Dec 24, 1900 Share "Dan Kirkwood" on FacebookBorn in Dalserf, Lanarkshire in 1900 Dan was on the books of both Airdrie and Rangers before moving south to Sheffield Wednesday in 1926.
Failing to gain a first team place at Hillsborough, Dan’s next move, to Brighton, was a whole lot more successful as he netted 74 goals in 168 appearances in five seasons as a maker and taker of goals from an inside-forward position.
Following injury at Brighton he was granted a free transfer and came to Luton in the summer of 1933 looking to re-kindle his career but after only two games he was off again in a matter of weeks to Swindon where he did little better.
Returning to Scotland, Dan worked as a miner and was a County champion at crown green bowls. He passed away in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire in 1977.
