Danny Clapton
Danny Clapton Date of Birth: Jul 22, 1934 Share "Danny Clapton" on FacebookStepney born Danny combined a job as a Billingsgate market porter with amateur football for Leytonstone before being snapped up by Arsenal in 1953.
A quick and tricky right-winger, Danny graced Highbury for eight years, winning an England cap along the way, before finally losing his place at the age of 28 and moving on to Luton for £5,000 in September 1962 at a time when the Hatters were about to be relegated to Division Three.
He did not have much chance to shine in a poor side and made only ten league appearances in an injury hit season before emigrating to Australia. Upon his return to the U.K he ran a pub but died in tragic circumstances in 1986.
