David Martin

David Martin Date of Birth: Jun 3, 1985

Born Erith Kent, David started off his football career at Slade Hill then Dartford. Crystal Palace came calling but he was used mainly as a substitute and made just 14 first team appearances before League One (third tier) Millwall signed him in January 2008. He broke into the first team and the following season he was an ever present including Millwall’s play off final defeat to Scunthorpe United. His form attracted other clubs but the attention seems to have affected him and an unsettled period began with a loan to Derby County then a permanent move. Unable to get into the first team, a couple of loans was followed by a time at Southend before being released.

Paul Buckle signed David in January 2013. A left winger, he made his debut at Barrow in February 2013 and scored his first goal at home to Hereford in March. As Paul Buckle moved on, new manager John Still knew David and gave him a good run of games until the end of the season. John Still retained him for the following season but in a very talented squad and some injuries, David only managed 9 games. Released as the Town moved into the Football League, David moved on to Conference Bristol Rovers on loan. 13 moves followed including both Margate and Whitehawk twice.
