David Deeney

David Richard Deeney Date of Birth: Jan 12, 1987

Born in Buluwayo, Zimbabwe, David’s family came to England at the age of 2 due to the danger in Zimbabwe as a result of the Robert Mugabe regime. David followed in the footsteps of his older brother Joe, by entering the youth system at Luton Town as a schoolboy, moving onto become an apprentice and then professional. David, like Joe found a pathway into the first team difficult as a result of the high quality youth players who were coming through our academy at the time. David, a central midfielder, played twice for The Hatters in the LDV Vans Trophy 2003/2004 season, coming on as a substitute in a 1-0 first round victory against Stevenage Borough, and then starting in the 3-0 third round loss to Southend United. David was released at the end of the 2005/06 season when Luton had finished 8th in The Championship. He moved to Hitchin Town, making 82 appearances, scoring 8 goals from midfield, before stints at Hemel Hempstead, Corby Town, St Albans City, Arlesey Town, St Neots, Slough, Kettering and Aylesbury.

David briefly returned to Luton Town, coaching the Under 14s alongside his brother Joe, as well as Football Coaching in local schools. David left the game completely moving into the Non Destructive Testing sector as a Sales Manager.
