David Forde

David Forde Date of Birth: Dec 20, 1979

Irish-born goalkeeper David joined Luton on loan in the summer of 2007. He was the tenth player to make his Hatters debut in the opening  fortnight of the new season under Kevin Blackwell’s management. Before returning to parent club Cardiff City, David played six times including League One victories over Gillingham and Port Vale, plus a fine 3-0 Carling Cup win over Roy Keane’s Sunderland.

The following summer he joined Millwall where he went on to make 299 league appearances in eight years, and at the age of 33 proudly became the oldest player to make a senior competitive debut for the Republic of Ireland. He kept a clean sheet and went on to collect 24 full caps.

Earlier in his career David had suffered with anger management problems and on one occasion was red-carded for striking a teammate. To tackle his issues he took up meditation and would be featured in a documentary film entitled ‘Taming The Lion.’
