David Lindsay

David Lindsay Date of Birth: Sep 23, 1919

Luton paid £8,000 to St Mirren for dour full-back David in the summer of 1948. The Hatters did well to entice the well built Scot to Kenilworth Road as a host of clubs, most notably Middlesbrough from Division One, had seen David build a reputation for himself north of the border and was on the verge of international honours. That he had played for the Town as a war-time guest probably helped to secure his signature.

Unfortunately, David did not last long at Luton for, after only seven games at the start of the 1948/49 campaign he lost his place and with reserve football not suiting him he accepted a move to Barnsley who happily paid £8,000 so the Hatters were not out of pocket.

David enjoyed four seasons at Oakwell before taking up with Wisbech Town where he became player/manager. David died in 1992.
