David Lomax

David Alexander Lomax Date of Birth: Aug 28, 1868

Born in Bury in 1868, Dan was sent, along with his brothers, to board at St John’s College in Luton and became a founder member of the Town club in 1885.

What would today be classed as a utility player, Dan could play in a number of positions and turned out regularly for the Town until 1888 when his army career took over.

Captain Lomax was killed in action at Driefontein during the Boer War in South Africa in 1900.
