David Richards
David Richards Date of Birth: Oct 1, 1896 Share "David Richards" on FacebookBorn in Wolverhampton in 1896 but brought up in Lanarkshire, Dave started his football career at Larkhall Thistle before making a solitary appearance for Port Vale.
Dave went back to Scotland with Dundee United, who he helped to promotion, before coming to Luton in the summer of 1925 where he was to enjoy six years as a regular in the side.
An ‘uncompromising, hefty full-back’ Dave made up for his lack of pace with the ability to read a game and, as such, was made skipper by manager John McCartney.
After leaving Luton in May 1931, Dave had a short spell at Watford before becoming a trainer at QPR and Brentford. The trained Swedish masseuse passed away in Hammersmith in 1971.
