West Ham were quickest off the blocks for his signature but he failed to make the breakthrough at Upton Park and so accepted the chance to join Luton, signing professional forms in January 1958.
David made a League debut for the Hatters as a 17 year old in a 1-2 home defeat at the hands of Manchester City in March 1958 but that was as good as it got for the ball playing inside-left who returned to the ‘A’ team.
Going on to play for Bedford after leaving Kenilworth Road, David now lives in Potton in retirement.
