David Sharpe

David Sharpe

Born in Glasgow in 1875, David had made a name for himself in his home city which included a Glasgow Cup winners medal while with Ashfield.

The Town were needing to cut costs following their first season in Football League Division Two in 1897-98 and released several players, looking to replace them with cheaper imports.

David fitted the bill, signing in the summer of 1898 and played for the majority of that season at centre-half. A solid performer and no more, he eventually lost his place as the campaign drew to a close but did pick up a Bedfordshire Senior Cup medal.

David returned to Scotland where he linked up with Ashfield again.
