David Viana

David Viana Date of Birth: Jan 22, 1992

Coming through the youth setup of Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg Alsace - the Strasbourg-born, Portugal Under-19 international David Gonçalves Viana made his first foray in senior football following a transfer to Atlético Madrid C in Spain’s fourth division. His only season with Los Colchoneros’ second reserve team saw him make twenty appearances in the 2011–12 season, the club finishing thirteenth in the league. Viana was offered an extension by Atlético, but opted to move to the MLS with Utah-based Real Salt Lake in September 2012. Viana’s time in the USA lasted less than a year, with only a pair of substitute appearances to his name prior to being waived by Salt Lake in July 2013.

After impressing John Still during a short trial period with Luton Town’s development squad, Viana was signed by the Hatters on a one year deal in September 2013. Viana made his competitive debut for Luton in a first round FA Trophy game against Staines Town, where he played for sixty minutes before being replaced by Charlie Smith. His next two (and ultimately final) first team appearances for the Town were in the third round of the FA Trophy against Cambridge United, playing in both the initial 2-2 away draw and the 0-1 replay loss at Kenilworth Road. Viana’s contract was not continued beyond the end of the 2013-14 season.

Following his release, Viana briefly played for SC Olhanense in the Portuguese Second Division in 2015 - before moving back to his native France to join 4th Division club ASC Biesheim
