Davie Hutchison

David Campbell Hutchison Date of Birth: Jan 3, 1906

Born in Shotts in 1908, Davie played his early football at Albion Rovers and Motherwell before a move to Carlisle in 1928 where he brought the scouts flocking to watch his forward line partnership with Jimmy McConnell.

The Town felt that Davie could do the same at Kenilworth Road in partnership with Andy Rennie and paid a big fee to bring him to Kenilworth Road in the summer of 1932 where, after a slow start, he soon began to show why the directors were prepared to shell out a lot of cash.

He missed the middle part of 1932-33 through injury but in the next season he was forced to play second fiddle behind new signing George Martin. Tried on the left wing, he was a revelation scoring nine goals in 18 starts but that was obviously not enough to guarantee a first team slot with the subsequent signing of George Stephenson and he drifted off to Airdrie in 1934.
