Don Shanks

Don Shanks Date of Birth: Oct 2, 1952

An England Youth international defender, Don was surprisingly released by Fulham at 17 in 1970 but was instantly signed by Luton who had been following his progress via scout Harry Haslam. Don won the ‘Little World Cup’ with England Youth the following year before making his League debut for the Hatters in August 1971.

A tough tackling marauding full-back, Don helped the Town to promotion to the top flight in 1974 but was then surprisingly sold to QPR for £35,000 in November of that year.

Don enjoyed a successful seven years at Loftus Road before a period at Brighton followed by football in Hong Kong, USA and Malta.

With a reputation as a playboy in London gambling circles and a former Miss World as a previous girlfriend, Don now lives in South London.
