Ed Asafu-Adjaye

Edward Yaw Okyere Asafu-Adjaye Date of Birth: Dec 22, 1988

Ed was born in Southwark, London and caught the attention of the Luton Town recruitment staff, joining as a scholar in 2005, signing professional terms upon the conclusion of the 2006/07 season, coinciding with a successful loan spell with Walton & Hersham, where he impressed from right back in his 7 appearances for the Swans, scoring 3 goals. Upon his return to the club, Luton Town were heading to League 1.

Although highly regarding by the academy, Ed was unable to break into the Luton Town team with, then manager Kevin Blackwell opting for experience in his squads, therefore Ed was sent out on loan further up the pyramid to Salisbury City, where he once again showed his qualities, continuing to knock on the door of the first team squad at Luton Town.

During the 2007/08 season Luton Town were in administration and sliding towards League 2, with Kevin Blackwell dismissed, new manager Mick Harford decided to recall Ed from his loan at Salisbury City, and start integrating him into the first team picture at Luton Town, with Ed making his first start in a 2-1 victory over Crewe at right back and remaining a part of the starting line up for the remainder of the season, signing new terms with the Club and becoming fixture in the team for the 2008/09 League 2 season, which was started with a 30 point deduction. Ed started in the 3-2 Johnstone Paint Trophy victory over Scunthorpe, and remained a fixture of the Luton Town starting lineup the next season in the Conference under Mick Harford. However, with the managerial changes Ed was in and out the squad, a tremendous personal conclusion for Ed in the 2010/11 season was scoring his first Luton goal during the Playoff semi final first leg against Wrexham with a sublime strike, although the Hatters failed to achieve promotion that season, losing to Wimbledon on penalties in the Playoff final.

The next season, another new manager, this time Gary Brabin preferred Freddie Murray to Ed at right back, sending Ed out on loan to Histon, but recalling him following Murray's injury. However, at the conclusion of the season, out of favour and with Luton falling short in the playoffs once again, Ed was released by the Club at the conclusion of the 2011/12 season, joining Forest Green Rovers, after two seasons he was released by the Vegans, joining Hemel Hempstead, before stints and Royston, Hayes & Yeading, before moving back to Royston.
