Edward Oliver Griffiths Date of Birth: Mar 5, 1916 Share "Edward Griffiths" on FacebookBorn in Tipton in 1916, Ted was turning out for Stourbridge when he was spotted by the Town who felt he had potential, inviting him to sign professional forms in February 1937.
He made a scoring debut at Newcastle from the wing early in the following campaign, the Town’s first in Division Two since 1900, and made five more appearances before losing his place on the signing of Charlie Ferguson.
Ted saw out the rest of that season in the reserves before returning home to play for Tipton. An electric welder by trade, Ted passed away in 2003.
