Emmerson Boyce

Emmerson Boyce Date of Birth: Sep 24, 1979

Aylesbury born Emmerson was one of the many players to come through Luton Town’s schools and youth development programme prior to signing YTS forms in the summer of 1995.

He made the breakthrough into the Hatters’ league side at home to Lincoln in April 1999 before becoming a regular and crowd favourite during the following season. A fast and reliable overlapping right back, ‘Boycie’ saw an offer from Premiership Crystal Palace in the summer of 2004 as too good to turn down and where he found himself catapulted into the first team earlier than expected following a series of injuries to established regulars, a place he held on to.

Emmerson made a big money move to Wigan in 2006 and skippered the side to the 2013 FA Cup final win over Manchester City. After a short spell at Blackpool, Emmerson rejoined Wigan as an academy coach, later becoming the manager of Wigan Athletic Women.
